I remember back In high school my dad bought a brand new 486 computer (pre-pentium). I somehow came across corel draw and pagemaker. Out of curiosity, I learned these two programs and soon started a desktop publishing business. Well, I did a few projects for local companies anyway. In college, my interests shifted to music., As I grew my hair long and spent most of my free time practicing with my rock band, I studied for two years at Ventura College with a major in music theory. When my father passed away at the end of my sophomore year, I was forced to quit school and start working full-time.
I settled down in sales for the next 5 years where I found myself very successful, but not satisfied. It was a call from a friend that led me back to the creative industry. With him and another old friend, I co-founded an internet marketing company. My duties as CTO were to create and host all of our web-advertisement sites, since I was the only one with any web skills. Well, sort of. I kind of learned as I went along. The business was a success at the start, but 2 years later I felt it was time for a change as I was reminded of my passion for design. So here I am in 2005. I am nearly a year into a master's certificate program in graphic design with
Sessions.edu. I began freelancing at the beginning of 2004 and am starting to build a solid client base, all word of mouth. I am learning more each day as I am more aware of the things around me again: art, music, nature, design, anything creative.
My new goals are as follows:
• To constantly grow as a designer.
• To continue to look at everything in many different ways.
• To become a successful designer:
Meaning; to create new, innovative, thought-provoking solutions for my clients challenges.
• To leave some sort of positive impact on the world.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me just a little.
